ANCE, COSPE’s Greek partner in the Action, launched a tender for consultants to carry out a Market Needs Assessment within the 4 CDAs’ areas. The objective of the study was to provide an in-depth analysis of the current situation of the labour market in Southern Giza allowing a clear picture of future trends in the mid-term perspective for the development of income generating activities with a special attention to women entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs. Future actions regarding Business Development Centers and Job-Orientation Desks will be based on the results of this study.

The consultant(s) undertook a review of the general environment and drafted a report on the development in employment by sector, skilled labour shortage and demands for skilled workers.

The study mapped the business vocation of the target area assessing the existing know-how, resources, products and networks and analyzing its limits and potentialities. The study had to provide general and detailed information regarding the four local labour markets and examines the hiring intentions of employers and qualitative and quantitative staffing needs of local and regional businesses. The study enabled needs analysis at three levels: - Macroeconomic level; - Company level; - Individual level. In addition, it included consultations with various businesses to get up-to-date information on market needs and trends as well as with other key stakeholders involved in regional development issues.

Finally, the study focused on the opportunities for the development of micro-enterprises for both genders.
