Environment

Safeguarding the environment means carry out ecologically sustainable practices that will not harm and damage the natural environment and life conditions in a given area. This is a main problem in Southern Countries where no care is taken to the ecological consequences of an uncontrolled industrial development with a purely economic exploitation of natural resources.

COSPE Egypt actively engages in environmental safeguarding and protection, be it with an indirect focus on all instances of cooperation, or with collaboration or with specific sustainable management of resources projects. This happens making communities work for the preservation of their habitat, fostering the link among environment, education and employment.

Working mainly at local level, COSPE Egypt face mainly the environmental problems and protection methods that any community daily deals with, such as the use and management of water resources, sewer systems and waste disposal. Drinkable water, air pollution and sewage and waste management are main challenges for Egypt. Moreover, the total lack of environmental education brings to wrong behaviour that further harm the general environmental conditions.

COSPE Egypt works raising awareness on management, protection and environmental balance pointing out that the rationalization of resources may represent not only a benefit from the ecological point of view but also a source of sustenance and of employment.

Projects on Fair Trade and organic agriculture represent a further commitment on environmental rehabilitation and maintenance and on enhancement of working conditions. In recent times, COSPE Egypt is furthermore becoming engaged in promoting sustainable tourism in Egypt.
