The project Cospe/CDA opened the Mulitmedia Library “Hagar al Nour”, entitled to Luciana Sassatelli, Cospe founder, in February 2005.
The library, equipped and realized by the project, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers different activities and services among which the most importants are :
- Borrowing books service
- Consultation rooms for children (children corner) and adults.
- Support for high school students in mathematics and scientific subjects.
- Multimedia space for individual research. *Organization of public readings and cultural meetings for adults and children.
The library purchased 1000 books and has reached now around 2000 books, thank also to donations made by individuals and organizations, like Unesco.
Hagar el Nour also provides the community with a reach cultural and social programme through the CDA theatre and cultural club . From an initial disuse condition, the two structures have become an active community meeting point for listening, discussing, learning and simply enjoying different forms of art and events. Art exhibitions, meetings with authors and poets, sports competitions, conferences, concerts have been taking place at the Cultural Club.
During the summer period, special activities for children are organized in the CDA. One of the aims of the initiative is to provide the children with an alternative and creative method to learn the English language, through games and art .
Two days per week, with the collaboration of an English mother tongue teacher, the CDA welcomes children from Abu el Nomros community in the Kids' Club . The children discover and enhance alternative intellectual skills in order to improve their self-perception and the interaction with the world around them, developing a more spontaneous and creative behaviour in everyday life.
As the school year starts, the Kids' Club stops, but it will open next summer...SEE YOU SOON!!!.
