The Fair Trade Egypt Foundation in cooperation with Egypt Crafts and COSPE is pleased to announce the third edition of the Fair Trade Event, Fair Trade: an alternative approach to trade and development.
The event will take place at El-Sawy Cultural Wheel from the 25th to the 30th of October 2007. During this Fair Trade week, many activities will take place including a handicraft products exhibition and a pictures’ exhibition. Throughout the event the handicraft producers’ groups will be in action; they will show their own techniques and styles and they will allow people to learn how to make their own crafts.
During the week two main events will take place:
25th of October from 7 p.m. until 10.30 p.m.: The Opening
The Fair Trade Egypt Foundation will be presented with interventions by Mona El Sayed (Egypt Crafts) and Bassem Saroufim (Fair Trade Egypt), followed by “Arza'q- Fair Trade Stories“ a film by Islam Lofty and Hassan Mahfouz. After an open discussion on the film, a Fair Trade buffet prepared by the “Future Women for Delicious Food" will be served. Lastly, DIMA, a contemporary exciting new band from Cairo will delight us with a concert.
29th of October from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.: The Workshop – Fair Trade: a solution for small handicraft and agro producers.
The Speakers will be:
-Dr. Reem Saad, AUC (The American University in Cairo)
-Ms. Joan Karanja, COFTA (Cooperation for Fair Trade in Africa)
-Dr. Zohra Merabet, NSCE (North South Consultants Exchange)
On this occasion will be a round table discussion with the participation of the producer groups' representatives.
It will be an important occasion to reflect on and share knowledge and experiences on Fair Trade.
