On the next 5th of June, on the occasion of the 2009 World Environmental Day, citizens of Cairo North who will take METRO and buy a ticket will get a small gadget reporting information about the World Environmental Day and other environmental issues. The initiative is jointly promoted by the Northern Cairo Project and the Egyptian Company for Metro E.C.M. and is finalized to raise the attention on the importance of the participation of all citizens to get a healthy and sustainable environment.
The well known incentive promoted every year by the Company with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs for reducing the ticket price and use environmental friendly transportation means, meets this year the community development initiative of an international cooperation project located in Northern Cairo, co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Italian NGO COSPE, AAEC and APE.
The two metro stations involved in the initiatives are Kobri El-Qobba (first line) Masarra (second line), both located in Northern Cairo area.
